Arts Program with Guardian Ad Litem

On Saturday, March 7th, Fostering Connections St. Johns hosted our first Arts Class in partnership with Guardian ad Litem 7th Circut at The Art Studio in St. Augustine Beach.

The purpose of our Arts Program is to give children in the foster care system the opportunity to strengthen their mentoring relationship with their Guardian ad Litem Child Advocate volunteer through creating works of art together and for each child to grow in their self-expression and problem solving skills through the arts.

Seven children with their guardians participated in our first class and made Fish Print T-Shirts. The children enjoyed creating their works of art and strengthening the mentor relationship between the Guardian and the child.

Many thanks to Fostering Connections St. Johns Advisory Council member Christie Chandler and GAL Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Carrigan for volunteering as instructors for this program,The Art Studio for hosting our program, and the GAL7 Foundation for providing snacks.

We look forward to resuming this program soon and watching this program continue to grow!
