Dear Fostering Connections St. Johns Supporters,
I hope you and your families are having a wonderful week!
April and May have been busy months for Fostering Connections St. Johns. We launched our Cooking Class Series for Independent Living young adults, hosted a baby show for a young woman in the PESS program, and premiered the art show Experience and Expression.
Through our Cooking Class Series, young adults aging out of care are learning to plan and cook healthy meals. A young mom who spent most of her life in the foster care system has the needed essentials for her daughter as she becomes a first time mom and feels uplifted by the support of the community. Teens and children in care have the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents and share their stories with the community.
Thank you to all of our volunteers and donors for supporting these programs. Working together, we all help fill in the gaps in services for local children in foster care through sharing our individual gifts and talents.
Thank you to our sponsors and guests for your support of our Night of the Arts fundraiser. It was wonderful seeing you all and discussing ways we can work together to fill in the gaps. Over $18,000 was raised to help support educational programs for children in care!
We look forward to our second Career Readiness Academy in partnership with The Kookaburra and our first College Readiness Academy in partnership with St. Johns River State College in July! Read more in the attached newsletter about ways you can help fill in the gaps.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Our children in foster care are amazing young people who have many goals and dreams. Working together as a community, we are helping to fill in the gaps in services for local children in care to help each child achieve their goals.
Kind Regards,
Aubrie Simpson-Gotham
