Fostering Connections February 2024 Newsletter

Dear Fostering Connections Supporters,

I hope you and your family are having a great start to the 2024 year!

It was a busy January for Fostering Connections as our 5th Anniversary begins. We started off the 2024 year with two monthly Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Up events and welcoming our newest board member, Dykisha Potter. Our St. Johns/Jacksonville  Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Up had 30 kids and 19 caregivers in attendance, our largest number yet! It is so wonderful seeing so many returning families and meeting new families!

In honor of our 5th Anniversary, we’ll be celebrating all year long with new branding, special events, and expanded program offerings. Stay tuned for announcements throughout the month of February and in our March newsletter.

With our growing impact throughout the region, we have seen a huge increase in the need for program volunteers and building our fund development capacity. Our Night of the Arts fundraiser, being held on May 18 at Friday Musicale, is our largest fundraiser of the year. It supports our Career Readiness Academy, Family Meet Up, and Enrichment Scholarship initiatives. There are many opportunities to support the event through attending as a guest, donating auction items, or becoming a sponsor. We have several volunteer opportunities at our upcoming programs. February is a short month, but it will be a full month of programs with two Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Up events and our first Teen Talk of 2024 at Bravoz Entertainment Center.  Starting this year, Teen Talks will now be a bimonthly program. Career Readiness Academy registration opens February 6th. This year we will have three class locations: Jacksonville, DeLand, and Palatka, our newest class location!
