Fostering Connections March 2023 Newsletter

Dear Fostering Connections Supporters,

This month, I had the honor of writing a scholarship recommendation letter for one of our first Career Readiness Academy graduates, who completed our program in 2020. He will be graduating high school in May with honors and will be attending college in the fall to study Nursing. Our Career Readiness Academy graduate stated, "I really appreciate you, you have really helped me in my high school journey and my future is going to be great thanks to you." I am so proud of him and his accomplishments. Since 2020, 44 students have completed our Career Readiness Academy program.

As spring approaches, we have a full program calendar here at Fostering Connections. Our second Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Up location at the Playful Family will launch in April. Our first Teen Talk event will be held in April. These events are a great opportunity for youth and their families to connect and build relationships with other foster/adoptive families.

This summer, we will be holding two Career Readiness Academy sessions for teens ages 14-18 in Jacksonville and DeLand. Student registration is now live. Read more in this month's newsletter!

Fostering Connections is able to provide educational programs and enrichment scholarships to youth impacted by foster care or trauma because of the support we receive from our community. In 2022, 96% of our revenue came from donations given by individual donors, businesses, and community organizations. There are many ways to support Fostering Connections throughout the year; monthly giving, supporting a fundraiser, hosting a micro event, volunteering.

An upcoming opportunity to give support is through Night of the Arts, our largest annual fundraiser. It will be held on May 13 at The Link in Nocatee. It is going to be a wonderful, inspiring evening. You can support Night of the Arts through becoming a sponsor, contributing an auction item, or attending the event.

Through your support, we can help more students have the tools they need to achieve their dreams. How can you help?

Kind Regards,

Aubrie Simpson-Gotham
