Dear Friends of Fostering Connections,
As you read this message, our award-winning Florida Youth SHINE Greater Jacksonville Chapter youth leaders and I are in Tallahassee for Children’s Week, walking the halls of the Florida State Capitol and meeting with legislators from across Florida. These remarkable young people are strengthening their leadership and advocacy skills while building the social capital that will shape their futures. Elevating youth voice remains a key focus for the year ahead.
Fostering Connections continues to expand access, strengthen impact, and grow with intention. In 2026, we are developing a formal Theory of Change and a new Strategic Plan to guide program growth, clarify outcomes, and ensure alignment between our mission and long-term vision.
Beginning in February, we are also piloting quarterly virtual Career & Life Skills Jumpstart classes for youth and Family Empowerment Access Parent Cafés for caregivers — reducing barriers while increasing connection and opportunity.
There are many ways to be part of this work. We hope you will join us for the Art of Family Gala on March 6, a meaningful evening celebrating the strength and resilience of the youth and families we serve.
And as Valentine’s Day approaches, we are reminded that love is often expressed through action — showing up, giving generously, volunteering your time, and advocating for young people who deserve every opportunity to thrive.
Together, we are building pathways to stability, opportunity, and belonging.
In Partnership,
Aubrie Simpson-Gotham
