Fostering Connections St. Johns April 2021 Newsletter

Dear Fostering Connections St. Johns Supporters,

Happy Spring! I hope you and your families had a wonderful Easter and Passover and are enjoying the beautiful Spring weather with socially distanced outdoor activities.

It is a busy time for Fostering Connections St. Johns as we launch programs and get ready for our upcoming Night of the Arts fundraiser.

Learn more in the attached newsletter.

In April, we are launching our Cooking Class Series for Independent Living young adults aging out of foster care. It will be a hybrid program with some students cooking live with the chefs and others cooking via Zoom. The students participating will learn how to cook basic breakfast, lunch, dinner, and pastry items, food safety, and meal planning. At the end of the series, each student will receive their own kit with cooking supplies and a cookbook to use at home. We are so grateful for the chefs who are participating and look forward to seeing our Independent Living young adults in the cooking class.

Our young artists are busy getting ready for the upcoming Art Show in May! In partnership with the Guardian ad Litem program at the St. Johns Cultural Council, we are hosting an Art Show showcasing the artwork of local children in foster care in honor of Foster Care Awareness Month. The theme of the show is Foster & Community. The show will have its Opening Night at our Night of the Arts fundraiser on May 1 and will open to the public on May 4 at the St. Johns County Administration Building Rotunda. It will be displayed at the Rotunda through the month of May. Thank you to an anonymous donor and the St. Johns Cultural Council for helping to make this art show possible. We look forward to this wonderful show!

Night of the Arts is on May 1 at Fantasy Farms! It will be a wonderful social distanced outdoor event with an array of heavy appetizers, desserts, cocktails, live entertainment, a virtual silent auction, and a live auction. Proceeds from the event benefits educational programming for children in foster care.

There are many opportunities to give support for this event. You can give support through event sponsorship, attending the event, and bidding on silent auction items.

We have several sponsorship opportunities. Please email fosteringconnectionsstjohns@gmail.com for more information. The deadline for sponsor logos to appear on event signage is Wednesday, April 14. You can purchase tickets to attend the event. The link is listed in our newsletter.

The event will be at 50% capacity with a limited number of tickets available. The silent auction is virtual this year to encourage social distancing at the in-person and give those unable to attend in person the opportunity to give support. Learn more about the silent auction in our newsletter.

Kind Regards,
