Fostering Connections April 2022 Newsletter

Dear Fostering Connections Supporters,

2022 is the year of opportunities and fun here at Fostering Connections.

There are so many exciting things going on this month!

This month, we are helping *Danielle, a teen in care, live her dream of attending her high school prom with her friends through providing a dress, shoes, hair styling, makeup, manicure and pedicure. We are so glad that *Danielle is able to enjoy this graduation pastime with her friends, feeling confident in her dream dress.

We are holding our first Career Readiness Academy session of 2022 this month, giving teens impacted by foster care or trauma that opportunity to learn job skills and begin to plan for their future career. One of our students, *Paul, is excited to learn more about a future career as mechanic. I look forward to meeting our students and helping them achieve their career goals.

For Easter 2022, we are partnering with Sunshine Play + Learn to distribute Easter baskets to local families impacted by foster care and host an Easter party for local foster families. Over 70 baskets have been requested this year! You can help by sponsoring an Easter basket for a child in care. Learn more in this month's newsletter. We are so grateful for Sunshine Play + Learn's support and partnership.

We are so excited for our upcoming Night of the Arts fundraiser on May 14 at The Link in Nocatee. Learn about the fabulous entertainment at Night of the Arts in our monthly newsletter. There are still several opportunities to give support through becoming a corporate sponsor, donating a silent auction item or attending the event. We look forward to seeing all of our supporters there! Many thanks to our Events Chair Lori Pugh Marcum , the Events Committee, our Board of Directors and Advisory Council for all of their help planning Night of the Arts!

Also in May, we are so excited to be one of the recipients of Belles & Beaus of the River Society's inaugural Derby Day Gala! Belles & Beaus of the River Society is a new nonprofit whose mission is to support and empower women, men, and youth in our community through volunteerism in our local community. Learn more about the event in our newsletter. We are so excited to grow our partnership with Belles & Beaus of the River Society!

I invite you to join us in our mission, providing opportunities and fun for children impacted by foster care or trauma. There are so many children like *Danielle who want to enjoy high school pastimes with their classmates or *Paul who want to learn career readiness skills to begin planning for their future. You can help provide support for the youth we serve. Sponsor or attend our upcoming Night of the Arts fundraiser, become a Foster Friends monthly donor or volunteer at our programs. There is something everyone can do to support children and youth impacted by foster care or trauma.

How can you help?

Thank you for all you do to support Fostering Connections. I look forward to connecting with you soon.

Kind Regards,

Aubrie Simpson-Gotham
