Fostering Connections September 2026 Newsletter

Dear Friends,


As young people and families settle into a new school year, I’m reminded of how important it is for them to have a community that continues to show up—not only during the summer, but throughout every season.


This year, we’re excited to expand two of our programs so that young people have more consistent opportunities to connect and grow. Career & Life Skills Jumpstart workshops and Teen Talks will now be offered monthly throughout the program year. Through these recurring experiences, youth can develop practical skills, build supportive relationships, and enjoy a dependable space where they feel welcomed and understood.


August gave us a wonderful beginning. Fourteen young people came together for a Teen Talk bowling outing, and six youth and families joined us to kick off a new year of Career & Life Skills Jumpstart workshops. We also laid the foundation for an exciting partnership with the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast that will help us provide welcoming, family-centered programming in both Jacksonville and St. Johns County.


Through Family Empowerment Night, caregivers will have a supportive space to connect, share experiences, and gain practical tools while their children enjoy safe and engaging activities nearby. This partnership is a wonderful example of what is possible when organizations bring their strengths together around a shared commitment to children and families.


September will bring even more opportunities for youth and families to build relationships, develop practical skills, and have their voices heard. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors, volunteers, community partners, and friends.


Thank you so much for believing in our mission and helping young people and families affected by foster care feel connected, capable, and confident. I’m deeply grateful to have you as part of the Fostering Connections community.
