Fostering Connections July 2023 Newsletter

Dear Fostering Connections Supporters,

Summer is here! This month, we celebrate our country's birthday. I hope you and your family make some great memories this summer with family and friends.

It has been a busy summer here at Fostering Connections! During the month of June, we had a full month of programming for children, teens, and their families. This year, we have had a huge increase in demand for our programs and services. It has been wonderful meeting so many new youth and families, continuing to grow our impact throughout the counties we serve.

We began the month with a successful Career Readiness Academy class in Jacksonville at the Jacksonville Humane Society. 12 students from Duval and St. Johns County were in attendance. The students were wonderful to work with and made tremendous learning gains in career and life skills. During the month of July, we will have a second Career Readiness Academy session in DeLand. This class is currently at full capacity. We are so excited to meet our DeLand students! Read a full program recap in this month's newsletter and look for a full recap of our DeLand class in the August newsletter.

Teen Talks, our newest program, was held at Daytona Lagoon. 27 teens in grades 6-12 from Volusia and St. Johns counties and their caregivers were in attendance. Teens in attendance had a fun day at the water park. Learn about our next Teen Talk scheduled for September 30 at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park in Palm Coast in this month's newsletter.

Our Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Up events, held twice a month for foster and adoptive families with younger children, continues to grow each month. At each event, families built relationships and shared resources with one another. A total of 31 kids and 14 parents were in attendance at our June Meet Up events. A special thank you to The Crossing Church and Felicia Colon' for providing dinner for our families at our monthly Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Up events each month. Learn more in this month's newsletter.

As we continue to grow our reach throughout Northeast Florida, we need your support to continue to reach more youth and their families, expanding our impact throughout Northeast Florida. We are thankful for our supporters like Tery Spataro, who has created the Steampunk Totem collection for Fostering Connections to raise funds and awareness for our organization year round. Learn how you can purchase art for your collection and support Fostering Connections in our newsletter. We have corporate and individual partnership, in-kind donation, and volunteer opportunities. How can you help?

Thank you for your support and partnership. I look forward to connecting with you soon.

Kind Regards,

Aubrie Simpson-Gotham
