Dear Friends,
As we enter May—Foster Care Awareness Month—I’m reminded of just how powerful community can be in shaping the lives of the youth and families we serve.
This time of year always invites reflection, and what stands out most right now is the incredible growth we’ve experienced—and the responsibility that comes with it. Across Northeast Florida, we are seeing a significant increase in demand for our programs, particularly here in Jacksonville. More youth are seeking connection. More families are looking for support. And more opportunities are needed to help bridge the gap between where our youth are and where they have the potential to go.
Over the past month, we’ve witnessed that impact in action. Whether it’s teens building meaningful relationships at Teen Talk, young leaders using their voices through Florida Youth SHINE, or families coming together in safe, supportive spaces at our Family Empowerment Nights—these moments matter. They are often the turning point where a young person begins to see what’s possible for their future.
As we look ahead to summer, we are preparing for one of our most critical seasons—our Career Readiness Academy. This program equips youth with the tools, confidence, and real-world skills they need to take their next steps toward independence. For many, it’s their first exposure to professional environments, financial literacy, and envisioning a future beyond their current circumstances.
But none of this happens in isolation.
It happens because of a community of people—like you—who believe that every young person deserves access to opportunity, guidance, and a support system that doesn’t give up on them.
