Fostering Connections St. Johns August 2021 Newsletter

Dear Fostering Connections St. Johns Supporters,

I hope you and your family had a wonderful summer full of adventures and fun. It is hard to believe it is the beginning of the school year. Summer went by so quickly.

Fostering Connections St. Johns has had a busy summer. We graduated sixteen students from our Career Readiness Academy. In July, our first College Readiness Academy was hosted at St. Johns River State College. We distributed 112 backpacks filled with school supplies at our Back to School Bash, held at the Flagler Health + Health Village at MuraBella. It was wonderful to see our families in person while safely social distancing . We are so thankful for the many sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible. Read a full recap and see photos in our newsletter.

This fall, we will be focusing on our educational programs and our upcoming Foster Friends 5K fundraiser. Our main goal is to keep our youth in care connected to their community safely. We are currently monitoring the current status of COVID-19 in the communities we serve and will make adjustments to program delivery as needed throughout the fall. We have added a virtual component to Foster Friends 5K to give all unable to attend in person the opportunity to participate.

To date, we have served over 100 youth in care through providing needed essentials and educational programs. The needs are great. We work each day to fill as many needs as we can. These are challenging times in our country. Through providing needed essentials, educational programs,

and community connections, we uplift our children and youth in care during these difficult times.

How can you help uplift a child in care? I look forward to connecting with you soon!

Kind Regards,

Aubrie Simpson-Gotham

Founder & CEO
