ear Fostering Connections Supporters,
The holiday season is here! This is a time to celebrate our families, holiday traditions, and reflect on our many blessings this year. For most, the holiday season is a time of great joy. For our youth in care, the holiday season can be a very challenging time being away from family members and holiday traditions they have experienced in the past. Foster care is a very difficult season of life for children who experience it, especially during the holiday season.
This holiday season is a difficult one for myself and my family as well with the recent passing of my grandmother. She truly was the heart of our family holiday gatherings. My grandmother always made everyone feel loved and special. The first holiday season without my grandmother is going to be very hard for us all. I honor her memory through my work at Fostering Connections and bringing joy to others during the holiday season, just as she did. My thoughts and prayers are with those who are also in a season of grieving this holiday season.
During this holiday season, even as I am in a season of grieving, I find great joy in the many youth and families Fostering Connections has been able to impact this year. Our number of clients served doubled this year! Families found connection and community through our monthly Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Ups, teens built community through our Teen Talk events, teens learned valuable job and life skills through our Career Readiness Academy program, and youth developed their skills and talents through our Enrichments and Summer Camp scholarship programs. This was made possible through the generous support of our donors and community partners. I look forward to sharing the full impact we made in 2023 in our January newsletter.
As 2023 comes to a close, there is still time to support the mission and programs of Fostering Connections. You can help youth in care have a more joyful holiday season through sponsoring a child and purchasing holiday gifts, donating to support our upcoming Teen Talk event, making an annual gift to Fostering Connections, or volunteering at our upcoming Teen Talk event. This year, there is a huge need for holiday gifts for teens. There is something everyone can do to support youth in care this holiday season. How can you help?
Thank you for all you have done to support Fostering Connections in 2023. I wish you and your family a happy, healthy holiday season and a joyous new year.
Kind Regards,
Aubrie Simpson-Gotham
