Fostering Connections March 2024 Newsletter

fosteringconnectio

Dear Fostering Connections Supporters,

I am thrilled to welcome you to the March 2024 edition of our newsletter as we celebrate our 5th Anniversary and look forward to exciting events ahead. As we mark our 5th Anniversary, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of our journey. Your support has been instrumental in our mission to create connections and opportunities for families impacted by foster care, adoption, or trauma.

I invite you to join us on Saturday, May 18th, at Friday Musicale for our 5th Anniversary Night of the Arts fundraiser. Don't miss the Early Bird ticket price of $100 per person, available until March 1st. Starting March 2nd, ticket prices will be $150 per person. The Silent Auction portion of the event, which will be hybrid this year and feature a range of items from artwork and jewelry to exclusive event tickets and gift baskets, will go live on March 1st. There are many opportunities to give support through sponsorships, contributing silent auction items, or providing volunteer support. There are numerous volunteer opportunities to assist with planning and day of event tasks. You will find volunteer opportunity sign ups in this month’s newsletter.

Your contribution makes a significant impact on the continued growth of our impact throughout our region. Throughout the spring and summer, we have a full program calendar for our youth and families. There are numerous volunteer opportunities for both adults and teens to participate. Your continued support is crucial to our success. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of the youth and families we serve. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

Here are some of our current volunteer opportunities- Career Readiness Academy: Our Career Readiness Academy program registration is now live! Student registration spots are filling up rapidly. We are in need of dedicated student mentor volunteers for all three program sessions in Jacksonville, Palatka, and DeLand to assist students with program activities. This volunteer role is ideal for adult volunteers who have experience working with teens on job and life skills. Examples of volunteers we have had in this program are retired college professors, educators, and entrepreneurs with flexible work schedules. You can volunteer on the days that work best for your schedule. Lunch is included for volunteers each program day. Your involvement and mentorship can shape the future for these students.

Teen Talk: Our recent Teen Talk event at Bravoz Entertainment Center was a resounding success with 19 teens in attendance. These events provide a platform for open conversations and foster a sense of community among our youth. Our next Teen Talk is on April 6 from 9 a-1 p at Towers Family Farms in Palatka. Volunteer chaperone sign up will go live mid-March.

Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Up: Our Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Up events have seen a remarkable doubling of attendance over the last 12 months. We extend our sincere thanks to all those who have made this possible. A special thank you to Church on the Rock and Good News Church WGV for being our St. Augustine Foster/Adoptive Family Meet Up sponsors! At our Playful Family Meet Up location, we need volunteers to assist with set up, serving meals, monitoring the playroom, the craft station, and clean up. We welcome high school students ages 15 and older and adult volunteers for this event. This is a kid friendly volunteer event. Adult volunteers are welcome to bring their children to Family Meet Up events while you are volunteering. Meals are provided for all volunteers. If your church or organization is looking for opportunities to support Foster/Adoptive families, providing a meal for families at our monthly Meet Up event is a great way to show your thanks and provide a night off from cooking. Exciting news for our Jacksonville community – a third monthly Meet Up event is set to launch on April 6 at Myrtle Ave Brewing! Sign ups for volunteer opportunities are included in this months’ newsletter.

Warm Regards,

Aubrie Simpson-Gotham
